LDEA Arrests Five Guinean Nationals in Zwedru for Drug-Related Offenses

Monrovia- October 23, 2025: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency’s Grand Gedeh County Detachment has arrested five Guinean nationals in connection with drug-related offenses. The suspects, identified as Amadou Barry, 40; Ashar Barr, 21; Abu Layee Sow, 38; Mamadu Jallah, 25; and Alimatu Jallah, 18, were apprehended on October 22, 2025, at approximately 3:09 PM at Polgal Pharmacy in Zwedru City.

According to the LDEA, the operation was conducted under a duly issued search and seizure warrant, resulting in the confiscation of 78 strips and 5 pieces of Tramadol, LD$660,000, US$500, 26 rounds of single-barrel gun ammunition, one single-barrel gun, and a notebook believed to contain relevant records.

The suspects are currently being held at the LDEA Grand Gedeh headquarters for further investigation. Upon conclusion of the investigation, non-drug-related items seized during the operation will be turned over to the appropriate authorities, while charges related to narcotics possession and trafficking will proceed under Liberia’s new drug law.

The LDEA has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and related crimes across the country and assured the public that updates on the case will be provided as the investigation progresses.
