President Boakai Hands Over 15 Vehicles to LDEA to Bolster Anti-Narcotics Efforts

Monrovia- October 8, 2025: In a powerful display of leadership and commitment to a safer Liberia, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has handed over 15 new operational vehicles to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA). The turning over ceremony was held yesterday, October 7, 2025, at the Executive Mansion and it underscores the President’s determination to strengthen the country’s fight against illicit drugs and protect its youth and future.

The vehicles, which increase the agency’s fleet to 21, will significantly enhance the LDEA’s capacity to effectively combat the scourge of narcotics. President Boakai urged LDEA officers to see themselves as guardians of Liberia’s collective well-being, stressing that the war against drugs is not just institutional, but moral, national, and generational.

“We must begin to love our country and be responsible citizens, taking Liberia as ours and protecting it accordingly,” the President emphasized. He stressed that the vehicles must be used exclusively for operational purposes and maintained with a sense of duty and patriotism.

LDEA Acting Officer-in-Charge Fitzgerald Biago expressed gratitude for the President’s leadership and pledged that the agency will uphold its mandate with renewed energy and accountability. A fleet management and deployment system has been introduced to ensure the vehicles’ proper use, with strict enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy against neglect and misuse.

The LDEA’s national strategy focuses on intelligence-led enforcement, community surveillance, and proactive coordination with international partners to dismantle drug networks and curb abuse nationwide. President Boakai called on communities, parents, schools, and faith-based organizations to join the fight against drugs, warning that “drugs are destroying our future” and emphasizing that “we all must work together to stop this menace.”
