Monrovia- September 28, 2025: Former President George Weah has broken his silence about the recent fire incident at his 9th Street residence in Sinkor, revealing a dramatic and unsettling sequence of events.
According to Weah, his wife had a premonition about the danger that night. “After I got home, my wife told me, ‘We will sleep in Rehab tonight, we will not sleep on 9th Street.’ I kept quiet and listened to her,” Weah recounted.
Unfortunately, the former President’s worst fears were confirmed when someone later called him to inform him that his house on 9th Street had been ravaged by fire. Weah’s response was a testament to his faith, saying, “Glory be to God.”

According to the former Liberian leader, this is not the first time his property has been targeted. He recalled a previous incident where his home was set on fire, and he was forced to flee. “I remembered they chased me out of that house as they set it on fire,” he stated.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the incident, Former President Weah attributed his safety to divine intervention. “I don’t know what happened, but to God be the glory. Yes, the flames went up, but the house stayed,” he said.
The former President account of the incident raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the fire and the potential threat to his family’s safety.
But the Liberia National Fire Service and the Liberia National Police have stated that, they were denied access to the residence of the former President to carry out investigation about the fire and determine the cause of the fire.
On the other hand, personels of the former President residence say the former President gave two numbers to call whenever they decide to investigate and they didn’t call those numbers.
