Ministry of Internal Affairs Hosts World Bank Support Mission to Boost Service Delivery

Monrovia- September 25, 2025: The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has successfully hosted the second Implementation Support Mission of the World Bank under the Governance Reform and Accountability Transformation (GREAT) Project. According to the group, this mission aligns with Strategic Objective 1.2, which focuses on enhancing service delivery by strengthening the capacity of County Service Centers (CSCs) across Liberia.

The visit aimed to review the progress made by the Ministry in implementing the project and foster cooperation between the Government of Liberia and the World Bank to ensure the project’s smooth execution. Minister of Internal Affairs, Nyumalin, who also serves as Board Chairman of the National Identification Registry (NIR), highlighted the importance of ensuring all agreements under the GREAT Project meet high standards. Specifically, he emphasized that revamping ICT infrastructure should prioritize quality, durability, and value for money.

Representatives from the World Bank Task Team expressed satisfaction with the mission’s outcomes and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with the Liberian Government. They stressed that continued dialogue and joint efforts are crucial for advancing service delivery reforms and enhancing the GREAT Project’s overall impact.

The GREAT Project is designed to improve governance and accountability in Liberia, with a focus on delivering essential services to citizens. By strengthening the capacity of County Service Centers, the project aims to bring government services closer to the people, promoting transparency and efficiency.

Through this partnership, the World Bank continues to support Liberia’s development efforts, providing financial and technical assistance to drive progress and improve the lives of Liberians.
