Liberia to Host 8th Annual Conference of African Maritime Administrations

Monrovia- September 25, 2025: Liberia has been chosen to host the 8th Annual Conference of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA) at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town from September 30 to October 3, 2025. The conference, themed “Safeguarding the Ocean and Promoting Decarbonization Exploring Africa Global Economic Potential,” will bring together 250 delegates from over 40 African maritime member states, international partners, global maritime experts, and leaders.

According to Ambassador Robert W. Kpadeh, Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the conference aims to strengthen maritime governance across Africa by fostering cooperation, building partnerships, and emphasizing digital technology. A key outcome will be the development of a strategic roadmap to guide Africa’s maritime future.

The conference will also focus on promoting economic development, capacity building, gender equality, youth and women empowerment, and strengthening the education sector to ensure equal opportunities. Ambassador Kpadeh highlighted Liberia’s leadership role in the global maritime sector, noting that the country is honored to host this significant international gathering among 40 nations.

The event is expected to provide a platform for African maritime administrations to discuss critical issues, share best practices, and chart a course for the future of maritime governance on the continent. With its rich maritime heritage and strategic location, Liberia is well-positioned to host this important conference, which promises to have far-reaching implications for the region and beyond.
