Monrovia-August 5, 2025: Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe has stressed the critical need for national investment in Liberia’s underprivileged youth, commonly known as “Zogos,” stating that the nation’s advancement hinges on their development and empowerment.
During a gathering with a huge number of at-risk youths on Center Street in Monrovia, Senator Snowe passionately advocated for an inclusive approach to national development. He challenged the negative perceptions often associated with disadvantaged youth, highlighting their capabilities by stating, “Some of you are more educated than some of those individuals in office today.”

Senator Snowe expressed concern over the escalating drug crisis in Liberia and emphasized the necessity for a collective national effort. “Until we all invest in you (Zogos), this country will not progress,” he stated, urging government bodies, ECOWAS, international allies, and civil society to collaborate in the effort to create a drug-free Liberia.
His comments received enthusiastic applause from the audience, many of whom valued his direct engagement and acknowledgment of their worth and potential. This visit comes at a time of increasing worry regarding the rising number of disadvantaged youths grappling with substance abuse and unemployment in the nation.
