EU Delegation in Liberia Donates Office equipment to Local Civil Society Organizations and Humanitarian Organizations

Following the departure of the European Union Observation Mission’s (EU EOM Liberia 2023), The EU Delegation in Liberia has taken part in the handover of office equipment, computers, power banks and other supplies to local civil society and humanitarian organisations. Amongst the Fifteen organisations who benefited were: Zorgowee Dordala Disable Group, Global Justice & Research Project, Serving Humanity For Empowerment and Development (SHED), LUX FM (University of Liberia Student Radio Station) and Girls in Technology.

Coming all the way from Nimba County to receive the donation on behalf of the Zorgowee Dordala Disable Group was Shirley K. Meanto, Chairperson of the ZDDG. ZDDG is a non for profit humanitarian organization focused on ensuring that the rights of people with disability are promoted and protected so that they can fully participate and be empowered to make decisions affecting their lives. Shirley expressed her joy, stating that the items would greatly benefit her disabled community.
“These items will truly help us because we did not have laptops, but now that we have them, we will be able to go online and advocate for other organizations in need,” she said.
The Global Justice and Research Project (GJRP) is a Liberia-based non-profit, non-governmental organization that documents war related crimes in Liberia and, where possible, seeks justice for victims of said crimes, with the full consent of the victims.
Mr. Hassan Bility of the Global Justice Research Project expressed his happiness at receiving the EU’s donation. “I think this will significantly help us in Civil Society to ease burdens. So, I would like to say congratulations and thanks to the EU for such a gesture,” said Mr. Bility.

Madam Joyce Pajibo, Executive Director received the donation on behalf of Serving Humanity For Empowerment and Development (SHED), a local organization established in 2017 which is focused in livelihoods, peace building, WATSAN(water, hygiene and sanitation). Under its EIDHR scheme, SHED is continuing the overall management and implementation of the remainder of FCA Finn Church Aid’s access to justice project funded by the European Union.
Under this project, SHED works with pro-bono lawyers to provide free legal services to pre-trial detainees and give gender and reproductive health support to inmates and supports the protection of the fundamental human rights of prisoners.
