Nimba County- December 19, 2023: ArcelorMittal Liberia is carrying out a massive Bridge construction between Bong and Nimba counties on the St. John River Bridge which connects Nimba and Bong County.

The St.John River Bridge was damaged when a train carrying iron ore collapsed on the Bridge in early November damaging the only Bridge that commuters use in traveling to both counties.

The Bridge construction which started November 17,2023 has stalled movement of inhabitants of both counties making it difficult to reach to other parts of the area,but speaking to inhabitants of the area, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Arcelormittal Liberia for the Bridge construction and the rehabilitation of the Duo chiefdom Road and terms the road project as timely.

Speaking to one of the senior staff of the contractor company that is carrying out the Bridge construction, he said the Bridge construction will end in late January of 2024 and it will be turned over to both counties’ leadership.
