Monrovia- July 14, 2023: Former Nimba County Senatorial candidate and one-time senior member of the Alternative National Congress, Tae Wongbe says people should stop comparing Unity Party standard bearer, Joseph Nyuma Boakai with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu because according to him, apart from them in their 70s, there is nothing similar between them.

He writes:
I see some UP folks drawing similarities between President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and Amb. Joe Boakai. Fact is, there’s NOTHING similar about these two men except that they are both in their 70s – Tinubu is 71 and JNB is 78!
Last year, I had the distinct opportunity to do some private work for Tinubu and his team and what amazed me about him instantly was that he served as governor of Lagos state for 8 years (1999 to 2007) and after he left the governorship in 2007, he was out of active politics for 16 years until he won the presidency this year – 2023! It was quite intriguing that someone could leave politics for 16 years and still be relevant today! When I asked how he did it, the response was shocking – “I invested in people”. He went on to share that many politicians and business leaders today in Nigeria came up under him and he mentored them, so many of them feel like they owe their political life and success to him. In addition to all this, the “Jagaban of Lagos”, has a strong track record of building businesses and is extremely wealthy and owns stakes in many businesses. His net worth is estimated at 4 billion dollars!
While I have high respect for JNB as my uncle and a career civil servant, you simply cannot compare the two! It’s like night and day! JNB never built a successful business…so, no wealth! He also never mentored and built anyone that we can point to! In fact, Madam Sirleaf takes the credit for many of the young people around JNB today. JNB was largely idled for the last 5 years and was never as vocal as others in the opposition and I must say that he owes the resurrection of UP and his political life to Henry P. Costa mostly…and then the CPP, including Cummings, the Ureys, Abe Darius Dillon, Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, and few other young people.
Focus on selling JNB and stop comparing him with someone who’s completely out of his league. It leaves him vulnerable to criticisms and many questions.
I said what I said…if you come under my post with insults and yama yama, I will block you. I am out ✌🏾
