NRF Debunks Media Reports

The Management of the National Road Fund says, its attention has been drawn to a FALSE and MISLEADING information on Spoon Talk on April 17, 2023 that the NRF Manager has refused to sign a US$40 million loan facility in favor of the NRF which has resulted to his contract not been renewed.
Let it be known that at no time did the NRF Manager disclose to any natural or unnatural person about the application of a US$40 million loan or any facility from AFRIXIM Bank to finance road maintenance in Liberia.

For the sake of public education on how loans are contracted by the Republic of Liberia on behalf of the NRF, all loan facilities for the NRF are not approved by the NRF Manager as was falsely claimed on the Spoon Talk show.

Instead, Loans for the government of Liberia even on behalf of the NRF are approved by the Ministers of Finance and Justice of the Republic of Liberia after those arrangements are firstly approved by the Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee (IMSC) which supervises the NRF on policy issues.
Therefore, the Management of NRF should not be held responsible for this False and misleading information related to the said loan and any information about its activities of the NRF in the media or social media.

Please be warn that the NRF will not hesitate to file lawsuit against any institution or person(s) that falsely accuse the entity or carryout character assassination of the Management. We are focus on our core responsibility to provide adequate financing for road construction in the Republic of Liberia.
