Monrovia- February 28, 2023: The Monrovia City Police says, it has claimed the attention of the Metro Police that a false, malicious, and devilish accusation has been made against an officer of the City Police, Varlee Telleh by Cllr. Jerome Verdier.

The City police in a press statement condemned the accusation against the Mayor and officer Telleh.
It is clarified that Varlee is a Patrol Officer of the Monrovia City Police contrary to Cllr. Verdier and other naysayers claim.

Fellow Citizens of Monrovia, Members of the Fourth estate, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen.

We bring you greetings from the Monrovia City Police Department.

We also like to extend deepest sympathy to Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott and her family as she endures this unbearable catastrophe.

It has claimed the attention of the Metro Police that a false, malicious and devilish accusation has been made against an officer of the City Police, Varlee Telleh by Cllr. Jerome Verdier.

It can be recalled that Cllr. Verdier accused officer Telleh of murdering the Daughter of Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott on a Local Radio talk show, Spoon Talk. In his accusation, Cllr. Verdier indicated that Varlee Telleh is the Deputy For Operation at the Monrovia City Police and was instructed by the City Mayor to perform said act.

The Monrovia City Police categorically clear, condemns this grave accusation against the Mayor and officer Telleh.

Distinguished Ladies and gentlemen of the Press, the Monrovia City Police is a vibrant, ethical and professional force with the constitutional responsibility to protect lives and properties within the city limit. This force does not in any way tolerate any unethical or unprofessional act by any member, from top to bottom, not even me as Director.

We also want to inform the public that Varlee is in country and performing his duty as a Patrol Officer at the Monrovia City Police, contrary to Verdier claims.

The act of baselessly mischaracterizing and falsely accusing people of committing grave crimes is totally inhuman and a violation of human rights. The action of Cllr. Verdier is anti-peace and has the propensity to incite violence in the heart of family members of the victims.

Liberia is a country of laws, therefore, any individual with concern should contact the court of competent jurisdiction instead of making reckless allegations.

Against the aforementioned, the Monrovia City Police assures the public that it remains committed to its statutory responsibility of protecting lives and properties and upholding the rule of law, and won’t in any way tolerate and serves as a safe heaven for wrongdoers.
