Senators vow to craft a law aimed at assigning firearms to their private security guards for protection, As Senator Varney Sherman threatens to kill any unauthorized person in his private Residence at night

As several senators opened discussion to craft a law aimed at giving their private security guards firearms for their protection, Senator Varney Sherman has threatened to kill anyone who invades his private home without his permission,

According to Bana fm legislative reporter, the Liberian Senate said the senators began the discussion under ‘AOB’ of the Thursday agenda items following the sad experience of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott which left one person dead and another injured at her Brewerville City residence on Wednesday night.

Commenting on the matter, the Grand Cape Mount Senator said the situation is scaring and called on his colleagues to take some legislative actions that will ensure that private security guards assigned with any current and former government official be allowed to carry licensed firearms.

Senator Sherman stressed that the sad situation of the former Chief Justice is a warning to other current and former government officials, and as such, he vowed to kill any unauthorized individual in his premises.

Also speaking, Senators Jeremiah Koung and Gbleh Bo-Brown of Nimba and Maryland Counties respectively, complained of the growing increase in the incidence of armed robbery across the country.

They further called on officials of national and all Liberians, including politicians to stop politicizing security matters in the country.

The senators also want the plenary of the Liberian Senate to invite the Minister of Justice and Inspector General of the Liberian National Police to comment on the state of the country’s security and address the sad incident which occurred at the home of the former Chief Justice.
