Monrovia, Liberia – The Minister of State Without Portfolio and Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU), has welcomed the visit of the Regional Vice President of the World Bank for Western and Central Africa, Mr. Ousmane Diagana to Liberia to the Invincible Sports Park and the PHP Sports for Development Center.
Mr. Trokon Kpui says Mr. Diagana’s visit to Liberia has further illuminated the bank’s determination and commitment to working with H. E. Dr. George Manneh Weah and his government in meeting the socio-economic needs of the Liberian people.

As part of his visit, the World Bank Vice President, along with President Weah, Tuesday, February 15, 2023, inspected ongoing road rehabilitation work on the 6.1 km road linking S.D. Cooper Road to Coca-Cola Factory Road, including ELWA and Red-Light Junctions, which are funded by the World Bank through Liberia Road Asset Management Project (LIBRAMP).
Additionally, the World Bank Regional Vice President was taken on a guided tour of the Invincible Sports Park along the Tubman Boulevard and the under-construction PHP Sports for Development Center behind the Barclay Training Center (BTC).
Following the visit, some media institutions aired on their news and other platforms that the two facilities, Invincible Sports Park and the PHP Sports for Development Center, are also World Bank funded projects.
However, Mr. Kpui has indicated that while it’s true that the World Bank is funding several projects in Liberia, he clarified that the two projects in question are not funded by the Bank.
According to Mr. Kpui, the PHP Sports Development Project, is funded by the United Arab Emirates, while the Invincible Sports Park Project is an initiative of the President.
