Monrovia, Liberia – September 26,2022: The opposition Unity Party has congratulated the CEO of Punch FM Patrick Honnah on his landmark victory and notes with serious dismay the unnecessary use of the courts to disenfranchise peaceful Liberians by the CDC-led government.
UP in a statement says the government of Liberia through its Solicitor General had for four years used the heavy arms of the law to prevent Mr. Honnah from operating his Radio station (Punch FM) under a pretentious scheme of radio frequency inspection and regulation.
It can be recalled In 2021 the civil law court of Liberia ruled the actions of the government to be illegal, the intolerant government was relentless in ensuring Mr. Honnah rights remain trampled on through their appeal to the Supreme Court.

As in the words of William Cullen Bryant, “truth, crushed to the earth, shall rise again”, the Supreme Court has today upheld the ruling of the lower court and restored all rights and privileges of Mr. Patrick Honnah and his Punch FM.
“We congratulate Mr. Patrick Honnah and the Punch fm family for their landmark victory over the CDC government, and call on them to go and bow their heads in shame” Mr. Amos Tweh, National Secretary General of the Unity Party said after the verdict was read by Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh in Monrovia.
Mr. Tweh noted that gone are the days when a government will succeed in suppressing free speech and freedom of the press in Liberia.
He called on the courts to expeditiously adjudicate all cases of similar magnitude and fully restore the rights of other victims of this government’s bad governance schemes.” UP mentioned.
Article 15 of the Liberian constitution grants Liberians the rights to freedom of expression and thoughts, the release concluded.
