The Liberia Land Authority office in Bong County has arrested and forwarded to the Liberia National Police, Bong Detachment several individuals for their alleged involvement in the illicit sale of customary land belonging to residents of the Kollie-ta in Zota District, Bong county.

Making the disclosure, the Land Administrator for Bong County, Victor Brown narrated that the individuals were arrested following a tipoff through the LLA Bong office and some eminent citizens of Zota District.
Mr. Brown further noted that during their preliminary findings, those individuals arrested are Peter Groupings who have been dubiously and maliciously posting as surveyors, Sunday Walker and Emmanuel Tolon land sellers who keeps terrorizing peaceful citizens and residents of the Kollie-ta Town in Zota District #4, Bong County.
The Bong County Land Administrator revealed that those individuals were arrested after they had gone to seek ownership of the customary land belonging to the community at the office of the Land Administrator in Gbarnga City, Bong County.
According to the Bong County land administrator, the acts by those individuals contravene article 49 of the land rights laws which prohibits sales of customary land until after the period of 50 years since the enactment of the Land Right Law of 2018.
Moreover, the arrest of Peter Groupings and others has brought to the number of two others cases that have been brought before the Liberia Land Authority Bong county office.
It can be recalled in this year, the LLA arrested a similar situations in Margibi and Montserrado Counties pending further prosecution in compliance with the ACT AGAINST CRIMINAL CONVEYANCE OF LAND OF 2014.
Meanwhile, the Liberia Land Authority has forwarded those alleged individuals to the headquarters of the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment pending a transfer to the Ninth Judicial circuit court in Gbarnga for further prosecution.
