Monrovia- July 27, 2022: The Liberia National Students Union has frowned on the act of brutality against some students from the Students Unification Party (SUP) of the University of Liberia, who were manhandled by supporters of CDC. The students who gathered in central Monrovia under the theme “FIX THE COUNTRY ” to protest against the CDC government were met by a counter-protest from some supporters of CDC.

Here is LINSU Full Press Release Below:
Comrades and friends, cadres and militants, astute stalwarts of the National student movement, affiliate member unions of the 15 sub-political divisions of the republic of Liberia, solidarity forces, developmental partners, international community, and members of the fourth estate, the Liberia National Students Union extends its unending revolutionary felicitation and salutations to you most especially on a day unique as the 175th Independence Day Commemoration of the Republic of Liberia.
With the fervency of fraternal revolutionary comradeship, the Liberia National Student Union expresses with dismay its discontentment in the brutal attack against peaceful students protesting with the hashtag #FixTheCountry under the banner of the Vanguard Student Unification Party.
LINSU as an institution having fought in the vanguard for more over 70 years in the cause of social justice, academic freedom, and peace, believes that our polity and democracy as a country at 175 years should be maturely tolerant of the inalienability of all fundamental human rights and every form of essential democratic tenets.
It is within such orderliness of tolerance; we’ve managed peacefully to thrive through recent postwar years from a state of destitution to a path of recovery.
The act of brutality on protesting students is anti-democratic, and it is an awful resemblance of everything which plunder this republic into our regrettable past of 14 years of civil unrest.
What is even more disgusting is that such is happening on the day of our hundredth and seventy-fifth (175th) Independence commemoration. The leadership of LINSU therefore wishes Comrade Christopher Water Susulu and others who sustained injuries at the protest ground speedy recovery.
In this vein, the Ministry of Justice is the agency that is responsible to protect the sanity of the state by impartially protecting the rights of all the Liberian people in the confines of the law.
As such, we’re calling on the justice ministry and international community to immediately probe into such disdainful act meted against students with immediate effect, and as such, bring all culprits to book.
In the cause of the people and students of Liberia, the struggle continues….
