Monrovia, Liberia- July 4, 2022: The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, is back in the country following successful participation in the 61st Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The Summit held in Accra, Ghana, on Sunday, July 3, 2022 reviewed several issues affecting the ECOWAS Subregion, mainly the security and political imbroglios in Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso.

ECOWAS leaders took some affirmative decisions during the submit, including the election of new chair of ECOWAS, new head of the Commission and the creation of new positions to address emerging situations, such as money laundering among others.
According to an Executive mansion release, during the summit, President Weah particularly reiterated Liberia’s zero tolerance stance on military takeovers in the region, though he blamed it on the willful change and/or extension of presidential term limits by some leaders.
The President was received on arrival by the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Nathaniel Farlo McGill, who acted as Chair of the Cabinet, in consultation with Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.
