Monrovia- May 6, 2022: The Joint Security of Liberia through the National Commission on Small Arms (LINCSA) has begun retrieving arms and ammunitions from courts across the country in a bid to keep track of weapons confiscated from arm robbers and criminals that were seized by the LNP through the justice system.
The LINCSA operation to collect weapons from the court saw the collection of several weapons from the Temple of Justice in Monrovia on Tuesday, May 3. 2022.
LINCSA Commissioner, Thomas K. Kollie told reporters at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia that the exercise is in continuation of the agency mandate to raid out illegal weapons in the country gear towards having a peaceful nation.

Commissioner Kollie said the weapons retrieved from the courts and police depots across the country were taken from crime scenes and arm robbers.
The LINCSA Commissioner said the exercise began in Cape Mount, Bomi , Nimba, Margibi and now Montserrado.
Mr. Kollie told reporters that the arms and ammunitions will subsequently be turned over to the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) to be destroyed.
He praised the cooperation of the LNP and courts during the process while calling on residents in the country to remain law abiding.
Hon. Kollie cautioned persons living in the country to report anyone bearing arms illegally in the country.
Several arms and ammunitions though rusty were retrieved from Criminal Court “D”, the court responsible to try arm robbery cases as well as other courts at the Temple of Justice.
The general mandate of the Commission consist of formulating policies and ensuring the implementation of such policies and measures aimed at addressing the problem of proliferation and illicit manufacturing, use, distribution, possession and trafficking of small arms and light weapons.
LINCSA coordinates and monitor all private and public sector efforts to prevent, combat and eradicate the proliferation and illicit trade in small arms and light weapons within and across the borders of Liberia.
The Commission collaborates with the Ministry of Justice to ensure that the LNP give licenses to would be users of small arms characterized by transparency and accountability.
