Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Pre-Launches Digital Platform To Enhance Collective Data

Monrovia- April 16, 2022: The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MOPT) pre-launch launch a digital platform to enhance collective data collection and pave the way for improved revenue generation and create easier socio-economic development in the Country.

The state of the art digital address project was initiated on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the main Complex of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on Carey and McDonald Streets in Monrovia.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister, Cooper W. Kruah at the pre – launch of the National Postal Digital Addressing Project (NPDAP) said the digital address is important because it will track every structure in the country and provide the mechanism for national development.

Min. Kruah averred that the project is in line with government Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).

He added that the postal digital addressing system will enhance the work of the postal ministry in delivering parcels to customers anywhere in the country as well as providing the necessary mechanism for other entities like the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Services as well as banks.

The postal boss added that the project will also create jobs, particularly for the youthful populace in the country.

Min. Kruah disclosed that the project is a public – private partnership between a Ghanaian owned company named SnooCode that will implement and complete the project in six years.

He said the initial cost of approximately 1.6 million United States Dollars to implement the project will be at the expense of SnooCode .

However, he clarified that the project is a 40 – 60 partnership between the Government and SnooCode.

The SnooCode digital addressing system allows anybody in Liberia to generate a memorable 5 – 7 digit address code unique to their location and can be shared with trusted contacts to direct them to their exact location using any mobile phone mapping system of their choice.

The project intends to provide efficient and accurate records system, creating a positive impact on Healthcare, Public Administration, Tourism and Security.

“The project will boost the Liberian economy, empower Liberian youth to acquire more skills to create their own jobs and opportunities for young Liberian technologists and engineers to build on the SnooCode digital addressing system to create their own novel solutions to some of Liberia’s most pressing problems,” Min. Kruah asserted.
