Monrovia, April 13, 2022: The administration of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), on yesterday, April 12, 2022 issued a statement congratulating students and staff of the Islamic faith on the occasion marking the observance of the holy month of Ramadan.
The MCSS says, in view of religious tolerance, with unity in diversity, and respect for each and everyone’s religion, MCSS schools will be closed on Monday, May 2, 2022, in observance of “Eid al-Fitr” the end of Ramadan.


Eid al- Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of shawwal.
Meanwhile the statement further narrated that all MCSS female students of the Islamic faith are allowed to wear their (hijab) during this holy month of fasting.
This is the first time in the country’s history for the Monrovia Consolidated School System will close all its schools on Ramadan and it is also the first time for the MCSS to grant female students of the Islamic faith to wear hijab during the holy month of Ramadan in classes.
Muslims in Liberia have welcomed the kind gesture from the MCSS saying it is a big step toward religious tolerance in Liberia.
