Due To Regular Power Outages Across Montsorrado and Its Evirons, House Summons LEC, LERC

Monrovia- March 11, 2022: The House of Representatives has summoned the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) and the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) to provide clarity and update on the continuous power outages across Montserrado County and its environs.

The Management of the two institutions are expected to appear before Plenary on Thursday, 17 March.
The decision by the lawmakers was taken Thursday, 10 March during its regular session based on a communication from Rep. Thomas Goshua of Electoral District 5, Grand Bassa County.

In his communication, Hon. Thomas Goshua, said the update is aimed to ascertain the reasons behind the unprecedented power outages, generation and distribution of power.

“The power outages experienced across communities within Montserrado as well as its environs are acutely alarming, as the homes of Liberians remain very exposed to criminal activities – largely perpetrated by disadvantaged youths.” He stated in his letter.
