Monrovia- March 11, 2022: The Plenary of the Liberian Senate has reached a decision to cite the Minister of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Samuel D. Tweah to appear on Thursday, March 17 at 10:00 A. M. in the Chambers of the Senate to give a comprehensive status of the country’s debt portfolio.
Plenary’s decision was triggered by a list submitted by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) to the Senate, cataloguing several vendors and amount owed to each vendor.

Predicated upon the list submitted, Plenary took the decision to cite the Minister to come and give detail explanation on each vendor, relative to how the vendors were contracted, what services were performed, what are the locations of the vendors, whether a bidding process was conducted for the contracting of vendors and on what basis the amount owed were allotted to the vendors on the list.
According to a release from the Press and Public Affairs Department, the Senate Plenary has also mandated the Minister of Finance and Development Planning to present a comprehensive work plan detailing the status of the timeline for the payment of each vendor.
It can be recalled that the request by the Liberian Senate for the submission of the country’s debt portfolio by the MFDP was triggered by a concern raised by Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon.
