Capitol Hill, February 22, 2022: Visiting US congressional man of Rhode Island State, Representative Nathan W. Biah, Sr., has pledged Electronic Voting Equipment to the House of Representatives of the Liberian Legislature to foster transparency and accountability during voting.
On Tuesday, February 22, 2022 during the 13th day sitting of the House of Representatives of the 54th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia in Monrovia, the District #3 Rhode Island lawmaker made the commitment in order for the Liberian House of Representatives to practice modernized Legislative practice through voting.

The Electronic Voting Technology can include punched cards, optical scan voting systems and specialized voting kiosks (including self-contained direct-recording electronic voting systems, or DRE). It can also involve transmission of ballots and votes via telephones, private computer networks, or the Internet.
As it is done in the United States, and other parts of the World, Congress men and Women or Parliamentarians vote electronically to promote public trust.
If Rep. Biah’s fulfilled his commitment, it will be the House’s second Electronic Voting Equipment. The first Electronic Voting Technology was installed in 2014 by the National Democratic Institution (NDI) as part of efforts to modernize the Liberian Legislature.
Currently, the House votes through “yeah or nil” or “head counts.”
Meanwhile, Rep. Biah also said that his visit as part of the Bicentennial is geared towards rebranding the Educational Sector of Liberia.
He urged the Members of House of Representatives to join President George M. Weah in the rebranding of the educational sector.
As Chair on the Education Committee at the Rhode Island House of Representatives, Rep. Biah noted that it is imperative that the Liberian Legislature take critical steps to ensure the sector remains vibrant.
Rep. Biah, 50, is a Liberian born. He is a native of Tappita, Nimba County.
