Government Announces Official Launch Of Bicentennial

Monrovia- February 4, 2022: The government of Liberia has announced the official calendar of events for this year Bicentennial program in Monrovia and its environs.

The Government of Liberia through the National Steering Committee of the Liberia 2022 Bicentennial announces special activities for the month of February 2022: The activities include:

Friday, February 11 – Armed Forces Day, 8:00 am at the Barclay Training Center, UN Drive, Monrovia

Friday, February 11 – ​​National Muslim Prayer Day, 12: noon, at Antoinette
Tubman Stadium, UN Drive, Monrovia

Sunday, February 13- ​National Christian Prayer Day, 12noon at the Grounds of the Executive Mansion

Sunday, February 13-​At 8: PM, National Candle Light Vigil at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sp+orts Complex, Paynesville​

Monday, February 14- ​At 8 AM, Official Launch of the Liberia 2022 Bicentennial at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville. Also on that day is a National Cultural Festival at the SKD after the Launch Ceremony, follow by the Heads of States Summit at the Executive Mansion from 3PM – 5PM. Later in the evening His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia will host the Grand Bicentennial Dinner Ceremony at 6:00PM at the Grounds of the Executive Mansion. Dress-code: National Colors. (INVITATION ONLY)

Tue. & Wed., Feb. 15-16 ​A two-day event of the University of Liberia (UL) Founder’s Day International Conference organized by the University of Liberia in collaboration with the National Steering Committee of the 2022 Bicentennial and partners will be held at the Ministerial Complex. The events are as follows:

DAY 1:​At 10: AM, Opening Ceremony and Launch of the Center for Diaspora and Migration Studies and Panel Discussion

DAY 2:​At 10: AM, Honoring of Dr. Joseph Saye Guannu and musical concert at the Capitol Hill main Campus

Fri. & Sat., Feb. 18 &19A two day Festival –dubbed Liberty-Fest hosted by the Crusaders for
Peace beginning at 12noon each day at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex, Paynesville
