Monrovia- January 31, 2022: Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon on Monday appeared at the Civil Law Court up Capitol Hill to sign for a writ of libel, slander in a case brought against him by the Liberty Party National Chairman Musa Bility.

Senator Dillon was accompanied by Grand Bassa county Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence and his lawyer.

Senator Dillon was signed-for by his lawyer following a command by the Court for the sheriff to “arrest, levy, seize and attach the lands, goods and chattels of the defendant for Montserrado County to the tune of US$1,500,000.00.”

Following this, Dillon was detained in the office of the sheriff for over three hours, while the lawyers were trying to sign for his temporary release until the bond was ready.

According to the Court, “the complaint of the named plaintiff in an action of damages for wrong for libel and slander by attachment, and that upon the failure to appear, judgment by default will be rendered against him.”

Dillon did not file any bond, but sources have hinted that he will make himself available at the court on a daily basis until a bond is proffer for him.

“You are also directed to insert the clause in the said writs of attachment and garnishment, commanding the Sheriff aforesaid to notify the defendant to appear on the day of 2022 to answer the complaint of the above named,” the Court ordered.

It further demanded, “You will also insert a clause in said writ of attachment commanding the Sheriff to notify in the above entitled cause of action that should he fail to show properties, or rental income, that the defendant or other authorized representatives shall be arrested and safely confined in jail until they shall have given the property bond in keeping with law.”

The Civil Law Court summoned Montserrado County Senator Darius Dillon following an action of damages for wrong for libel and slander by attachment filed by the National Chairman Musa Bility of the Liberty Party.

In Bility’s complaint in the above entitled cause of action case, plaintiff pray the court to adjudge the defendant liable to grant plaintiff complaint and award damages in an amount not less than US$1,000,000.00 (One Million) in general damages to be decided by the trial jury for the following factual legal reasons as showed to wit.

That plaintiff avers that he is a respected member of the Liberian society who has worked very hard and as a result has gained accolades both nationally and internationally as a businessman, politician and leader of Liberty Party.

That Darius Dillon is a suspended member of the Liberty Party, a serving Senator of the National Legislature representing the county of Montserrado, Dillon purposely, recklessly, and with malicious mind and intent, exercising no scintilla of decency for the truth, cherished social values as well as the basic ethics of government honorable men and women occupying the seat of honor in the National Legislature.

Bility complains further that Dillon engaged in a wicked campaign to defame, and tarnish the name and reputation of the plaintiff through blackmails and stigmatization through electronic, print and social media outlets.

The Writ of Summon stated: You are commanded to summon the within named defendant Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, Senator for Montserrado County, Liberia National Legislature, Republic of Liberia, defendant also of the City of Monrovia defendant for Montserrado County sitting in its March Term A.D. 2022 at the Temple of Justice building, to convene on the 21^st day of March 2022 at the hour of ten o’clock in the morning to answer cost of these proceedings.

Plaintiff submits that the sole purpose of the defendant slanderous utterances and libelous publication are to gain prestige in the eyes of the plaintiff.

Plaintiff prayed the Court to grant his complaint and prayer for damages to be decided by the trial jury in the amount not less than US$1,000,000.00 (One Million) in general damages and an order to have the defendant pay to plaintiff or other any necessary fees associated with these proceedings.
