Government of Liberia, China Railway Seventh Group Signed USD 53M FOR SACLEPEA – TAPPITA CORRIDOR ROAD; As World Bank Country Manager Commits to Liberia’s Sprouting Road Sector

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: January 6, 2022: The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Public Works, today signed a Contractual Agreement for the rehabilitation and/or pavement of the 61km Saclepea – Tappitta Corridor Road in Nimba County.

The construction of the corridor is part of efforts aimed at implementing SECRAMP 2 which seeks to link other counties within the Southeastern Region of the Country.

Speaking on behalf of the Government of Liberia, Acting Public Works Minister, Ruth Coker-Collins lauded Development Partners including the World Bank for the support given to roads connectivity across the country.

Minister Collins also reassured the Citizens of Government’s support by providing basic social services through the development of major road corridors in the country.

Also speaking, World Bank Country Manager Kwima Nthara expressed satisfaction for the level of cooperation subsisting among Stakeholders, and emphasized that the development of roads continues to bolster economic activities which in turn improve the standard of living.

He pledged the World Bank’s continued support towards Liberia’s growth and devepment.

For his part, the CRSG Representative Mr. Wang Bo thanked the Government of Liberia for the confidence reposed in the Company, adding that they remain committed to the construction of quality roads.

The Saclepea – Tappitta Corridor when completed will link Nimba County to other counties including Grand Gedeh County.

Meanwhile, the Project is expected to last for thirty six months with a defect liability period of one year.
