AT END OF A TWO DAYS MRU CONFERENCE IN MONROVIA, SIERRA LEONE PLEDGES ITS SUPPORT TO ECOWAS AND MRU IN RESTORING CONSTITUTIONAL ORDER IN GUINEA

Monrovia- November 24, 2021: The Republic of Sierra Leone has pledged its supports to ECOWAS and the MRU in restoring constitutional order in Guinea, thereby returning the country to a civilian Democratic rule, within the timeframe directed.
Sierra Leone stands ready to make it’s expertise available to support the work of ECOWAS mediator in Guinea.

Speaking at the conference on Tuesday, November 21, the Sierra Leonean minister of foreign affairs H.E David Jones Francis, said Guinea is a MRU sub-region country, therefore, what happens in one member states, effects all other member States.
However he said that the challenge now is How the MRU can maintain, secure and consolidate their hard-won peace in winning the peace of the people.

The Sierra Leonean Foreign Minister used the occasion to call on MRU leadership to meet Under the transitional leadership and chairmanship of Liberia, to discuss current peace and security issues in the sub region of ecowas State.

According to him, this will increase operational visibility of the joint security cooperation and Border Patrol.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister of Sierra Leone says the country has offered to chair a committee on joint security, cooperation, and border patrols for a period of 18 months.
He indicated that it prudent on the part of the Emeritus Secretariat, to engage the equity interest in the person of Dr. Kevin Chambers and ECOWAS Council of ministers, as part of the collective, effort to restore constitutional order in Guinea.
Therefore Sierra Leone stand in readiness to support the work of ECOWAS as mediator for AU, UN in GUINEA
