Monrovia- Liberia’s water, sanitation and hygiene commission (WASHC) has for the first time developed a roadmap in Liberia that will track activities to end open defecation by 2025.
According to the WASH Commission, The roadmap is named ” Liberia ending open defecation roadmap”.
Speaking MICAT regular briefing on Thursday, November 11, 2021, the chief executive officer of the water, sanitation, and hygiene commission (WASHC) Ambassador Bobby Whitfield emphasize that the roadmap was drifted by (CLTS) to address open defecation issues across the globe.
he claims some people toilet and exposes them in the open. when flies sit on them it is harmful to the health of community residents.
however, when this program is lunch, he says Liberia will come on the path with countries that have a blueprint in ending the open defecation issue.
meanwhile, Liberia has brought in the country an Indian expect called Dr. Kamal Kar, who is also the chairman of the community-led total sanitation (CLCT) project.
the CLCT program is used worldwide by the United Nations in more than 77 countries around the world. it is the same program that has been used in Nigeria to end open defecation problems.
India was the largest open defecation country in the world, but since the lunch of the CLTS program, it has mov
ed up to an open defecation series country.
