But addressing the press after the burial, the families say they are yet to recieve any money from the government.

The families’ Spokesperson, Jelson Keamah told reporters that they have since engaged WAEC and Gov’t to ascertain why the money has not been given them but to no avail.

When contacted, WAEC-Liberia head, Dale Gbotoe cpnfirmed the report noting that he has no idea why the money has not been disbursed into the institution’s account.

The WAEC Boss then called on the aggrieved families to remain sedate and calm while WAEC takes siege of the matter.

Meanwhile, Education Minister, Ansu Sonii has clarified that the Hundred Thousand US Dollars promised by Gov’t was not intended to go into the hands of individual family of victims of the Niko Ivanka ship wreck as being percieved.

At the same, Minister Sonii intimated that Gov’t committed the money to underwriting burial cost of the victims.

He urged the families to query WAEC because they are respnsible for the victims’ benefits and not Gov’t.

After sustaining a considerably tragic and much mental impact, it appears unclear whether the families will recieve indemnity or not.
