Residents of New Georgia Nigerian Shop Community Benefit from a day long Key Actors Meeting organized by MSF Health Team

Monrovia-September 16, 2021: Residents of New Georgia Nigerian Shop Community have benefited from a day long Key Actors Meeting organized by MSF Health Team. It was aimed at helping the community with basic medical treatments for children.

According to Madame Elsie H. P. Supoe, who happens to be the supervisor for the team gave an overview of MSF activities in Liberia. She told the participants that the group is offering free medical treatment to children from 3 months to 12 yrs.

Miss Supoe also said that the job of MSF Health Promotion Team is to organize various community meetings with Community leaders, youth groups and women organizations to explain to the people about the workings of the MSF..
Madame Supoe said that MSF does not discriminate,they treat everyone equally with respect. She further explained that the organization is self supported.

Another speaker by the name of Oretha M. K. Wheazor,who spoke about the admission and criteria of MSF, told the participants that MSF operates two projects in Liberia. One of which is located at the Bardnersville Junction and the other is located in Clara Town.

For the BJHF, that is the Bardnersville Junction health facilities, is purely for children that require operations. There are children who are rejected by the various clinics around Bardnersville areas, and send to the MSF hospital for major treatments like operations. The hospital takes children from 1 month to 15 years with emergency cases on free of charge services. Miss Oretha when further to tell the community dwellers that they also carry on surgery for children suffering from deformation. She mentioned of additional treatment that has to do with urines that leak from multiple holes on the penis.

For the facilities in Clara Town,deal with mental problems. According to them, there are people who are having mental problems such as absent minded, open mole, and the rest of it. Such people are treated at the Clara Town hospital.

Mr. Charlton Fallah,who is also a member of the team spoke about the challenges the hospital faces, especially when it comes to the cases of DBAs, death before arrival and the DOAs, death on arrival.
He said that the community should avoid waste of time with the children. Whenever the parents of these children notice that a child is not well,they should immediately rush that child to the MSF hospital for quick treatment.

He said most of the parents will waste time with the child or children,as the result,MSF encounter the cases of the DBAs & DOBs.
The Key Actors Meeting was attended by over twenty Community dwellers.
