Monrovia- September 1, 2021: The Honorable House of Representatives is carefully reviewing a 25-year’s Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) between the Government of the Republic of Liberia and Bao Chico Resources Liberia Ltd.
The Mineral Development Agreement was submitted by the Chief Executive, President Dr. George M. Weah for ratification.
Members of the House of Representatives voted unanimously on Tuesday, August 31 – the 59th day sitting, and forwarded the MDA to the Committees on Investment, Mines & Energy, Judiciary and Ways, Means, Finance & Development Planning to scuritinze and report to the August Body within one week.

According to the President’s communication, if the MDA is ratified, the Bao Chico Resources Liberia Limited will operate under a Class A Mining License to extract iron ores.
The President indicated in his Communication to the Honorable House that there will be huge direct benefits in the forms of employment and revenues.
Tuesday, August 31, 2021, Sitting also saw the Appearance of the Director General of the Civil service Agency (CSA) and the Ministers of Internal Affairs, Education, Health and the Payroll Harmonization team to address the issue of alleged perpetual delay in remuneration of public sector employees, particularly those appointed at the local government level as raised in a communication of Hon. Thomas A. Goshua, II, Representative, Grand Bassa County Electoral District#5.
The Various Ministries and Agencies are to report within the period of one week with specific information relating to employees who are captured on payroll and those who are not. The report is expected to detail from County to district levels; something that will inform the lawmakers about the prevailing situations faced by their constituents.
Still at the House of Representatives, a Communication from Hon. P. Mike Jurry, Representative, Maryland County, Electoral District#1, craving the indulgence of the Honorable House to invite before it’s plenary the Ministers of Transport, Commerce & Industry and Finance & Development Planning and others to discuss and plan possible financial means for the operation of ferry in Liberia.
The Communication was sent to the House’s Committee on transport to report in one week.
