Monrovia, Liberia- August 17, 2021: Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee on Monday, August 16, 2021 held a meeting with victims over the outbreak of fire that ravaged a number of homes and businesses in Waterside, Monrovia.
During the meeting, Mayor Koijee expressed deep regret over the situation and wished the victims speedy recovery. He urged them not to use the situation as an opportunity, but rather be sincere and catalog the damaged goods.

He told the residents and business owners who got victimized that the President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah is willing to intervene into the matter and ensure it is handled with care.
The City Mayor assured victims that they will get free medical treatment at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital as part of President Weah’s intervention.
The victims thanked Mayor Koijee for his timely leadership role and committed to remain calm. They are expected to hold a meeting with President Weah this week through the Mayor’s intervention.
The Chief Administrator of John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Dr. Jerry Brown and Imam Mohammed Y. Keita formed part of the meeting.
