Monrovia, Thursday, August 5, 2021: As part of effort to ensure that commercial drivers comply or adhere to the adjustment in transportation fares, as well as to bring relief to commuters against the arbitrary hiking of Transport fares by commercial drivers, the Ministry of Transport with immediate effect has reduced the registration fees of taxi from USD 190-USD 75; commercial bus from USD 250-USD 150; tricycle (kekeh) from USD 150-USD 50; while motorcycle (pen-pen) remains USD 25 respectively.
At the same time, the National Transit Authority (NTA) round town buses will be increased from 10 to 25 buses to be particularly available during morning hour to help commute students, marketers, worker etc. Plan is also under way to reduce the transport fares of the NTA buses from pick up points in Monrovia and its environ.

The Ministry of Transport is also assiduously working with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to ensure that a technical committee is set up to assess the prices of assorted vehicle spare parts and petroleum products on the Liberian Market to enable the authorities of Government undertake future developments or action (s) in the transport sector of Liberia.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport is expected to conduct a 2-day stakeholders training workshop for more than 500 motorcyclists in Monrovia aimed at ensuring road safety through the application and observance of safety rules or traffic laws to help minimize the alarming rate of accidents or road crashes in Liberia which continues to post threats to the lives of citizens and properties, as well as undermine the socio-economic growth of the country. The training workshop will be held from August 19-20, 2021 at the Monrovia and Paynesville City Halls respectively.
The program marking the certification of participants will take place on August 24, 2021 during the official celebration of National Flag Day of Liberia at the Monrovia City Hall.
