Monrovia- August 4, 2021: The Liberia National Police has arrested and charged three persons with gang rape for sexually molesting a 16year old girl.

Defendants Mohammad Kamara, 16, Joejoe Tony, 17, and Myers E. Dennis, 19, committed the act on the night of July 26, 2021 in the Christian Community.

Their action is in violation of chapter 14, subchapter D, 14.70 of the penal law of Liberia.

According to a complaint filed by Joyce Jeffery, elder sister of the victim, Kamara, Tony and Dennis went out for the 26th celebration with the 16year old and reportedly gave her liquid to drink before she was sexually abused.

Madam Jeffrey alleged in her complaint that she was in bed when a man identified as Moses Jimmy informed her that her little sister was sexually abused by a boy.

Upon arrival on the scene, she said, defendant Kamara had already been arrested, and he admitted committing the act but said he was assisted by Tony and Dennis.

Explaining her ordeal, the victim said she and her friend identified as Grandma had trekked along the road for the 26th, where they met defendants Dennis and Tony who offered them an alcoholic beverage called “Big Banana”.

After drinking the Big Banana, the victim explained that she felt drunk and helpless, thus asking the defendants to take her to the residence of her Aunty only known as Janjay to pass the night.

Upon arrival at the house, the door was locked, and there the boys reportedly abused her sexually because she was abnormal and helpless.

Moses Jimmy, an eyewitness told the Police that he heard noise outside at about 11pm and thought it was from his children’s room, but when he got there to inquire, there he saw defendant Kamara having sex with the victim.

Mr. Jimmy told investigators that he caught Kamara and invited the victim’s elderly sister on the scene where Kamara disclosed that he committed the act along with Joejoe Tony and Myers Dennis.

Tony and Dennis also admitted to the commission of the crime when arrested.

Meanwhile, Defendants Kamara, Dennis and Tony are currently behind bars at the Monrovia Central Prison pending Court trial.
