Days After The Death Of Its Deputy Chief Imam, National Imam Council Names Imam Rashid A. Sheriff as Acting Deputy Chief Imam

Monrovia- July 5, 2021: Over the weekend, the National Imam Council of Liberia announced Rashid A Sheriff as its acting deputy chief Imam following the death of the deputy Imam of the Council, Alhaji Abubakar A. Feika.

In a communication issued by the council, it says it will continue to pray that Allah, out of His Infinite Mercy, will forgive the late Alhaji Abubakar A. Feika and that al-Jannah will be his final home.

” As we mourn our Deputy Chief Imam for International Affairs, his legacy must live on. And so we are pleased to announce the appointment of Imam Rashid A. Sheriff as Acting Deputy Chief Imam for International Affairs of the National Imam Council of Liberia. He shall remain in charge pending his possible confirmation at the next Annual Assembly of the National Imam Council.” The release mentioned.

Imam Sheriff is a graduate of the Islamic University in Madina, Saudi Arabia. He also earned a post-graduate diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations from the Foreign Service Institute in Liberia.

He has represented Liberian Muslims at a couple of International conferences. Prior to his appointment today at an extraordinary meeting of senior executives of the Council, Imam Rashid Sheriff served as Station Manager of Sautus-Salaam Radio and Special Assistant to the National Chief Imam. He currently serves as Imam at the Supreme Court of Liberia.
