OVER STOCKPILE OF DIRT DOWN WATERSIDE, MARKETERS BLAME MCC FOR NOT TAKING THE DIRT OUT FOR MONTHS; SAY THEY ARE GETTING SICK EVERYDAY FROM THE DIRT

Monrovia- May 25, 2021: Marketers down waterside in Monrovia have blamed the Monrovia City Corperation for not taking out the stockpile of dirts down waterside.

Speaking today when our reporter toured the dumped sites, some Marketers told our reporter that they are no longer making active market because of the presence of the huge dirt which according to them, is driving away their customers and making them to go under extreme financial burden as well as difficulties.

They alleged that as a result of the dirt some of them are getting sick because they have no choice but to sit by and with the dirt just to look for their ants meet.

“We are really suffering and this is unfortunate as such we need an urgent intervention”, one of the local market woman told our reporter.

The dirt they claimed have been with them for nearly a month with no attempt to have it removed  something they noted is regrettable.

As for Mrs. Pabai, she emphasized that if the government have their citizens at heart, they will not create a condition to make them sick.

She wants the Monrovia City Corporation to be more proactive and work effectively in order for them to feel the impact.

Madam Pabai stated that they are currently paying taxes but at the moment they can not benefit from anything from the government because they are not making business.
She used the occasion to urge the government to relocate the dump site to another location other than in the City especially major business area.

“We rely on this for our livelihood, to send our children to School and many others”, they reechoed.
Currently the business people have no choice now but to sell in the huge pile of dirt even if they do not have customers as their major concern is  the removal of the dirt in order for them to breathe fresh air and transact business as usual.
