Monrovia- April 17, 2021: The spokesperson of the former ruling party, the Unity party, madam Cornelia Kruah-Togba has said that recent Incident that involved Mo Ali and a young lady on a leaked audio, where Mo Ali is clearly heard coercing the lady to abort the pregnancy, as a sponsored propaganda from the ruling party.
In her post, the Unity Party Spokesperson Writes:
It took me a little longer to respond to allegations levied against Mo Ali because care has to be taken to ensure my personal view on the matter is not misinterpreted as an official position of the Unity Party-as I currently serve as its Spokesperson. With that being said, I would like to clearly state that the representations below are mine and not the party’s position.
While legally I believe the alleged actions of Mr. Ali may not directly violate any criminal law of Liberia and politically I believe there may be sponsored propaganda around the matter by those from the other side, however, morally I am of the conviction that his alleged actions are condemnable.
No woman should be put in the position to choose between unwillingly having an abortion or forfeiting the support of the assumed father during the period of the pregnancy and beyond.
Where the facts are established that the allegations are true, I’ll encourage my boss to do the honorable thing and own up to his actions publicly as this matter has been made public.
As political leaders, we have a duty to uphold all moral standards as we would political and legal standards during our course of dealings. We serve as role models to many, some known and some unknown, and as such we must conduct ourselves accordingly at all times.
I would also like to condemn in the strongest terms those who see this as an opportunity to bash the young lady and call her names because of their relations with Mr. Ali. I admonish you to desist for said acts.
While, I believe I do not have the capacity to determine a victim or perpetrator in this matter I am under obligation at all times to speak against ills affecting women in our society.
It is my hope that this matter can be handled amicably between the two adults involved.
