The Supreme Court of Liberia sets April 15 and 16, for hearings into the writ of prohibition against Brownie Samukai, Senator-Elect of Lofa County.
The hearing according to our judicial reporter is in accordance with the Liberian Government’s writ of prohibition to the Supreme Court of Liberia against the certification of Samukai, through its Solicitor General, Cllr. Syrennius Cephus
Recently the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) filed a writ of prohibition at the Supreme Court of Liberia against the certification of Brownie Samukai.
MPC has asked the Supreme Court of Liberia to issue an alternative writ of prohibition and order the National Elections Commission (NEC) not to certificate the Lofa County Senatorial-elect as winner.
The political party according to its writ took the decision on grounds of affirmed prior conviction against Samukai.
According to the Party, the Laws of Liberia prohibit any citizen from enjoying their rights as provided for under the Constitution for the commission and subsequent conviction of any infamous crimes.
Following the Government of Liberia conference Thursday, the Supreme Court has also set Friday as the day for the hearing also in the MPC complaint filed.
