President Weah dedicates Tusa Field

Monrovia- April 7,2021: President George Manneh Weah took a trip down memory lane as he dedicated the Tusa field project on 7 April.

President Weah said the field was a place where he and boyhood friend Joe Nagbe “cut their short-term contracts”.

Liberia Football Association (LFA) Mustapha Raji disclosed that the field was chosen for rehabilitation due to its historic nature and President Weah’s participation.

Raji praised the government for its full cooperation by grant a 100-percent tax waiver, including to foreign contractors.

Funded by FIFA, Greenfields BV formally turned over works done at the field in Gardnersville on 4 April.

Led by project engineer Franclin Ngwese Ngabe, Greenfields turned over a pitch with artificial turf, two mobile goalposts, a tractor to clean the turf, spare nets and lightening facilities for games at night at a small ceremony attended by Raji, Vice President Wilmot Smith, executive committee member Henry Boyd Flomo and Sports Minister D. Zeogar Wilson.

Vice President Sekou Konneh, executive committee members Quiwu Pepci Yeke, Nyemah Nyanway, Pawala Janyan, Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie, Maritime Commissioner Lenn Eugene Nagbe, Blanco FC President Cyrus Yenay and Ambassadors FC President Doris Bedell graced the occasion.

President Weah, chief patron of sports, scored four goals as the Weah All Stars (WAS) disgraced Gardnersville Legends 9-2 in the opening match.

The Orange national league (2020/2021) will debut at the refurbished turf over the weekend.
