How You Utilize The Education You Acquired is what Actually Make You An Educated Person, Min Gesler Murray Urged UMU Prospective Graduates

Monrovia-March 31, 2021: Minister of Mines & Energy has urged students of the United Methodist University that academic achievement is more practical when translate their degrees into professional services for Country.

Addressing scores of the UMU University graduating class members, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Gesler E. Murray, emphasized that Liberia’s progress in vital areas of development such as economic growth, depends on the level to which educated professionals apply themselves in their areas of study. Minister Murray intoned: “the degree is important, but it’s not all that matters in your academic journey. How you utilize the education acquired is what actually makes you an educated person.”

The UMU prospective graduates who end their respective studies in diverse disciplines, walk out of the walls of the University under 20 days from now. They had made a brief stop by at the Ministry of Mines and Energy on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in continuation of a massive cleanup exercise they are carrying out, codenamed “Weah [President] for clean city.”

Responding to the Mines and Energy Minister-proper’s assertions, the students headed by Raphael Donokolo, said they launched the sanitation campaign in order to create awareness about patriotism which they noted should be deeply rooted in giving back to one’s country, than what the country can do for you. Raphael clarified to Minister Murray that their efforts to do sanitation work ahead of their graduation in April, was not being done solely for financial assistance or contribution from public and private institutions they are reaching out to.

Miniter Murray, a former professor of Mining Engineering at the state-owned University of Liberia, however, appreciated the efforts of the United Methodist University graduating class with a token he said he wouldn’t disclose. After the brief ceremony at the front view of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the students carried out their cleanup exercise and departed for another similar undertaking.
