For Better Conditions At Their College, Aggrieved and Agitated Engineering Students Turn Tubman University Campus Upside-down; Disrupt Normal Academic Activities

Harper City, Maryland County- February 16, 2021: On
Monday, February 15, was quite a scene at the famous William V. S. Tubman University in Maryland county, when aggrieved students of the Engineering College went on the rampage disrupting early morning classes and other administrative activities in demand of better conditions at their college.

The aggrieved students are reported to have complained several times to the university’s authorities that conditions at their college are in a deplorable state with the acute lack of hired qualified staff and inadequate facilities at the college to cater to their needs, a plea which they claim, has falling on deaf ears by the administration.

The students of the college, therefore have agitated that they will continue to disrupt normal academic and administrative activities until their demands are met. The aggrieved students are even demanding the resignation and dismissal of the university’s current president, Prof. Dr. Elliot Wreh-Wilson, citing his lack of ability to address their long standing plights.
But in response to the claim and demand of the students, the university’s president, Dr. Wilson, in a radio interview on the university’s radio station in the county argued that he is doing his best, but is not getting the necessary support needed to address the plights of the students. He said that the lack of staff in the college is as a result of lack of adequate budgetary allocation to employ new faculty, as those whom he said he contacted are requesting a hefty salary as compensation in order to work at the institution, something which he argues, is out of his purview as president.

Meanwhile, as the protest drags on, normal academic and administrative activities have come to a standstill with the aggrieved students seen marching all about the campus and chanting slogans. Moreover, they were also seen attacking people, seizing phones of journalists who are trying to cover their protest.
The actions of the aggrieved students come in the wake of President Weah’s expected visit to the county in the coming days in continuation of his nationwide tour.
