Monrovia- February 8, 2021: Several resident of Jallah Town Community in Monrovia, On Monday February 8, 2021 Besieged the main Community road linking Capitol Byepass heading to ninth Street intersection in demand of Electricity.
According to the Chairman of the community, Patrick Karmo since 2019 to present, the entire community has been out of Electricity. He said they have written several letters to the Liberia Electricity Corporation(LEC) for redress concerning the issue but to no avail. The lack of current has led to most of the businesses in the area to short down, the chairman mentioned.
” And since the information was written to the LEC Authority and they did not do anything to ease the situation but refuse to supply us with Electricity, that’s why led to majority of the community dwellers blocking the main ride within the surroundings to demand government through the LEC authority to provide the electricity immediately or else they will continue to protest.
Meanwhile, when the incident occurred early this Morning, the Liberia National Police( LNP) Officers immediately gathered on the scene to restore kind in the area and for the resident of the community to release lthe blockage from the main road.
Speaking to the protesting community dwellers, Millie W. Williams , Community Outreach and Liaison Coordinator at amongst colleague got on the scene and negotiated they as the authority of LEC will make show on Friday Feb, 12, upward to reach the entire community to know the problem the community dwellers are faced with concerning the electricity issue.

Madam, Williams said when the mapping work is resolved they will provide 250kva transformer in the area to restore current in the Community but before the exercise start, the community dwellers through their Chairman Patrick Karmo will signed MOU with the community in Other to avoid power theft in the area to save the transformer that with be given to them.
She further stressed that if this is done, it with help of the government to generate more funding for the betterment of improving the society and to protect the newly in acted power theft law signed by the legislature to help protect million of USD loses that deprive the LEC entity from generating revenue for the civil servant who work for government to obtained salary on time.
