Monrovia, Liberia- September 27, 2020: Outspoken Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Cape-Palmas Andrew Karnley has decried the appalling socioeconomic conditions in the country.

Delivering his homily at today Mass at the St. Theresa Cathedral in Harper, the Catholic in memorial of the late Father Hickens who served as a priest in the Diocese of Cape-Palmas and the Archdiocese of Monrovia for many years, the senior Catholic prelate said while basic social services are lacking in the southeast a region of about a million people which has from times to time ‘supplied’ national government of some of the most intelligent, competent and qualified characters remains in a state of bewilderment. Bishop Karnley averred, ‘don’t we (southeasterners) deserve better roads, education, healthcare services, etc? To travel from the southeast to Ganta or Buchanan is equal to a living being seeing himself or herself walking into hell’ the Bishop laments.
He didn’t further mince his word by frowning at the exchange of monies during this political season and also the current passport scandal threading in the media.
He called on Liberians to stand up for a just cause that will change their dismal economic condition. ‘I am not telling you to take to the streets, I am not telling you to engage into violence, I am not telling you who to vote against or not, but you must think well enough about county and country to vote right.
