Monrovia- July 25, 2020: The Liberian Government Covid-19 Household Food Support Program or COHFSP announces the continuation of the food distribution on Wednesday July 29, 2020 to August 1 within the Township of West Point.
According to a statement from the Liberian government, the following days (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday) will be used to serve exclusively the West Point Community that has 7 blocks and 35 zones.
Meanwhile, the government says all Block leaders are encouraged to ensure that beneficiaries in those mentioned blocks are assembled and remain in observation of the protocols set by the distribution team.
The Security Subcommittee had also laid out plans for providing security and controlling crowd congestion.
In line with the President’s mandate for the provision of food support for most vulnerable communities across Liberia, the COHSF food Distribution has benefited several communities and over 50 orphanages since its beginning, statement said.
The package which includes two 25kg bags of rice, 28 cups of beans and 1 gallon of vegetable oil will be distributed by a team from the constituted Steering Committee that is represented by the WFP and the Government of Liberia. Targeted households from within the mentioned 7 blocks and 35 zones in West Point Community will benefit from the distribution exercise from Wednesday July 29, 2020 to Saturday the 1st of August.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism wishes to inform all concerned beneficiaries and the highlighted Blocks and Zones that the Government of Liberia takes seriously the observation of all health protocols during the distribution exercise and will ensure straight adherence to these measures.
Community leaders, Elders and Youth groups are asked to be a part of the exercise by observing and reporting all misconducts or irregularities that could disrupt the true intent of the COHFSP distribution exercise.
