Former President Sirleaf And Her Vice Meet ‘Face To Face’ To Reconcile

Monrovia- It seems like the 2017 election bad blood between former president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and her vice president is something of the pass because the two met last week to reconcile their differences.

The bad blood between the former president and her vice divided the Unity party during the 2017 general election in which Unity party lost to the Coalition for Democratic Change of president George Manneh Weah.

According to a release issued in Monrovia, the Unity party says its National Executive Committee; the National Chairman, Wilmot J. M. Paye; stalwarts and members of the Unity Party welcome the direct face to face meeting between the Standard Bearer, Amb. Joseph N. Boakai, and Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

The release further stated that the meeting sets the pace for genuine reconciliation in the Unity Party. Against this backdrop, the leadership of the UP is encouraging all of its members to begin to work collectively and genuinely to further strengthen the party, the release mentioned.

“This meeting which follows the Standard Bearer’s statement after his returned from the UP USA/Canada’s Convention which was held in the USA signifies the party’s quest for genuine reconciliation not only in the UP but nationally.

We all look forward to working with everyone in the interest of a stronger UP,” the press release concluded.
