Monrovia- As Claims and counter claims continue to run in the Four Collaborating Political parties about who is fit, Popular, and has huge support base in the country, the Youth Chairman of the Alternative National Congress, T. Benjamin Myers has penned an open letter to Sen. Abraham Darius Dillon about his continues silence in the CPP. Mr. Myers letter which went viral on social media address the Montsorrado senator directly.

Mr. Myers writers:
Dear Sen. Abraham Darius Dillon:
I read your thrilling comment on the values the CPP brings to the political spheres, and how it has raised the hopes and aspirations of the Liberian people. In that statement you urged leaders not to solely dwell on the politics of who leads the CPP, but should endeavor to uphold its values and principles geared at providing responsible leadership to help our people out of their wretched conditions.
Precisely, I tend to share similarity of view with you on this one as I have also been disturbed as much as you are, on the ongoing claims and counter claims within the CPP. When we presented you to the people of Montserrado in the just ended senatorial by-election, I doubted from the early beginnings that they were this resolved to oust Weah and his band of thieves from power for having demonstrated a height of ineptitude in the governance of the state. However, when the results were being announced with consistency in their votes for the CPP from district to district, I felt guilty internally for judging the people wrongly.

At this point, I was proud for once in the audacity of Liberians to put country above self by democratically standing to a regime to express their disillusionment. The message went far and wild, even beyond the borders of Africa that a strange phenomenon has emerged and major opposition parties have decided, far from election period, to forge a common front; something that is rarely seen in African politics.
Said message was further accentuated and the power of our unity recognized by the ruling party’s withdrawal from the Cape Mount senatorial by-election upon the demise of the late Sent. Edward Dagosseh. Again, my confidence was emboldened and a constant reminder was embossed on my conscience of how we should walk circumspectly with one another as to avoid any form of misunderstanding that may potentially undermine the walls of unity within the CPP.
Notwithstanding, I am not unmindful of the fact that there would be substantial disagreements with parties making claims of having the best candidates to head the CPP, as it is the usual raucous of politics. I also am aware that these are independent parties that have decided to forge a united front, and so getting them to be subjected to internal control and guidance outside their usual independence, will require processes that are not spontaneous.
Throughout the almost two years we have been collaborating as oppositions, the Alternative National Congress (ANC) has remained a very active, yet cooperative variable in the political equation. Never have we demonstrated any ego of wanting to claim ownership over the CPP, or professed to be a better party over any other; not even the Liberty Party from whence you come. The ANC has given the chance to all of the parties to field candidates in by-elections without publicly complaining of being cheated.
We have had several by-elections since this government came to power and the ANC never got a chance to participate in none. Just to name a few:
- Bong County- Dr. Tokpa- though he ran as independent candidate, but is a staunch partisan of the Unity Party. Members of the CPP based on certain agreements, pledged support and campaigned for him.
- Montserrado County- Josephine Francis- she ran on the Unity Party’s ticket and was supported by the CPP; even though she did not win.
- Sinoe County- Romeo Quiah- he also ran on the Unity Party’s ticket and was whipped again. Supported by the CPP.
- Montserrado County District #13- Collinear Krah Togbah- she again ran on the Unity Party’s ticket and was defeated. Supported by the CPP.
- Montserrado County- Darius Dillon- you ran and won on Liberty Party’s ticket, being supported by the CPP.
- Cape Mount- Dabah Vaiplah- ran on the Unity Party’s ticked and was supported by the CPP.
- District #15, Montserrado- Telia Urey- she ran on the ALP’s ticket and was supported by the CPP; though she didn’t win.
The name of the ANC did not appear in all of these by-elections as though we are only there to be supporters and cannot be the supported. We presented a candidate for the Cape Mount senatorial by-election out of seven by-elections, but still didn’t get the chance. It was after the election that we were vindicated when our unsupported candidate seized over 4,900 votes over the CPP supported candidate with a little over 1,800 votes. The ANC yet did not complain!
What seems to be my disappointment with you and other folks from the Liberty Party is your #SILENCE in all of these. When UP folks began to overly demand that they field candidate in Cape Mount having had the opportunity to field candidates in three by-elections, you guys were silent and could not say a word! A philosopher once said: “in times of trouble it is not the voice of your enemies that you remember, but the silence of your friends”. The ANC again moved on , knowing that if everyone starts to show ego, the CPP will be short lived.
Recently in a public manner, the rotational Chair of the CPP whose tenure has already expired, Benoni Urey, alienated Mr. Alexander Cummings by labeling him a stranger; thus declaring support for Joseph Boakai, Standard Bearer of the Unity Party. For you, these are not the basis of the ongoing exchanges within the CPP, but I see them as such.
Sen. Dillon, be real and name those causing confusion within the CPP and stop the overall characterization of leaders of CPP, when you know for a fact that none of these points at Mr. Cummings and the ANC. The only path to achieving a united CPP is for all to realize that no one has supremacy over the other, and that mutual respect should be at the core of our discussions going forward. More still, people like you should catch the bravery to say to the UP folks that they have had enough, and now is ANC’s turn. You should also say to Benoni Urey and Henry Costa that they are bad apples within the CPP, and that Costa’s outburst caused Telia Urey’s defeat during the just ended by-election in District #15.
We can not pretend to be peaceful when the truth is not being told; certainly not! Except we say the truth as is, all our efforts are mere fiasco!
Sen. Dillon, until it becomes necessary for me to pen to you few words, I wait to hear you say the truth as it is the foundation upon which the CPP’s framework must be established.
Sincerely,
T. Benjamin Myers
Chairman
Indomitable National Youth Congress- ANC
