Monrovia Aug.27,2019- Vice president Jewel Howard-Taylor has broken silence in the just ended Montsorrado County senatorial and representative bi-elections. Speaking on Monday morning on state’s radio, VP Taylor lamented by saying:

“Darius Dillon is like my son, who I grew into politics, because he was my office chief of staff. And it also goes with Representative Melvin Cole, and Senator Henry Yallah of Bong County. I trained them, and so in no way I can go against them. I could not wish Dillon a failure, but at the same time, I could not have given my support to him over Paulita Wie.”
However, she said her own party, the National Patriotic Party (NPP), which is a member of the coalition, did not have any voice in the selection of the candidacies, Paulita C.C. Wie and and Abu Kamara, for the Montserrado County by-elections.
“I was not contacted about what we could do to nominate the coalition’s candidates, because my party had no voice, and so this has led to Senator Sando Johnson, and others within the NPP to call for our withdrawal. But I stand for peace, and so I am not deterred by all the challenges currently facing my office as the Vice President, and as the standard bearer of a political party (NPP) that played its part in campaigning across the length and breadth of the country to see us succeed as a coalition,” she said.
Meanwhile the vice president has called on members of the Coalition for Democratic Change members to come together for the best interest of the CDC government.
In a related development, Hon. Acarious Gray, Spokesman of the just ended bi-elections has refuted claims made by VP Taylor about the Party not communicating to her about what she could do in the candidates nomination. Speaking on a local radio station, Hon. Gary said the Vice president just chose not to support madam Wie because Dillon worked with her and could not have given her support madam Wie openly by campaigning for the CDC senatorial candidate. He said, the vice president was aware of the CDC rallies but chose not to attend any. He also said that according to the Coalition agreement, if any member representative or senator died or resigned that member will elect one of its members to represent the Coalition. And that was the reason why they chose two of their members from the Congress for Democratic Change because according to him, Montsorrado county is the CDC base and the two seats were for the CDC.
A big thanks to VP Taylor for what all she had said, but i want her to know that nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious than to be able to decide. Loyalty to country always. Loyalty to government, when it deserves it….
