Monrovia- The Grassroots Alternative Movement for Economic Freedom Has added her voice to many voice in the country in condemning the recent waves of election violence in Liberia. The pressure group issued a press statement saying:

The Grassroots Alternative Movement for Economic Freedom (GAME – F)
categorically condemns recent waves of election violence in Liberia. GAME – F
strongly maintains that violence in any form, is counter-productive to peace and
nation-building.
GAME – F considers the incident of election violence on Saturday, August 17,
2018 in Electoral District #15, Montserrado County, not merely attributed to
election violence, but a clear assassination attempt on the life of Ms. Telia Urey,
Representative Candidate, District # 15. Footages and other high sourced
facts obtained from the incident clearly substantiate our conclusion that
Ms. Telia Urey was a target of assassination by supporters identified to be
associated with Mr. Abu Kamara and CDC.
The Movement calls stronger punitive measures on perpetrators consistent with the
laws of the Republic. We welcome official press statement from the Liberian
National Police (LNP) and their determination to launch investigation into the
incident of violence and assassination attempt on the life of Ms. Telia Urey. The
Movement wishes to caution the LNP to uphold its ethics and standards in the
discharge of their functions, and that a speedy and timely conclusion of said
investigation is necessary.
GAME – F also calls on the Liberian National Police to open full investigation into
the following accounts of recent election violence:
- A full investigation into the Tuesday, August 13, 2018 violence on the grounds of the National Elections Commission, in which it was alleged that supporters of Mr. Abu Kamara was engaged in stone-throwing and destruction of properties belonging to the opposition.
- A full investigation into the November 17, 2018 election violence in District #13, Montserrado County, in which it was reported and alleged that one person was killed and several wounded from the camp of Mrs. Cornelia Kruaa-Togba in a violence sparked by Mr. Jefferson Koijee.
Finally, GAME – F calls on all Liberians to remain peaceful as violence will only hurt the country and scare away the already “not-willing-to-come” would-be investors.
