since that historic decision was reached in Accra, the 2003 Accra Peace Accord has been an instrumental to the current peace of this nation and August 18, 2019 will mark exactly sixteen years was document was signed .
With exactly three days to August 18, a day in 2003 when Liberia signed to the Accra Comprehensive peace accord in the West African State of Accra, Ghana; Liberians are gearing up for its sixth years of sustained peace since after the civil War.

Ahead of the Country’s 16th Peace Anniversary celebrations, the Executive Director of Liberia Crusaders For Peace Juli Endee has called on citizens to embrace the culture of peace and denounce violence.
“Peace is less costly, but War is expensive” She averred.
According to madam Endee Peace is a pivotal instrument of development and must be embraced by all Liberians whether or not you are from the ruling or Opposition political parties.
Speaking Further at the Ministry of Information Culture Affairs and Tourism regular Thursday press briefing August 15, 2019 ahead of the 16th Kukatornon peace festival which is expected to take place in Kakata, Margibi County the “LCP’ boss said it is about time that all Liberians build up the real and practical spirit of patriotism as well as nationalism for their mother land- Liberia.
Despite current economic situation in the Liberia Amb. Endee is of the conviction that the people of this nation are ready and prepare to sustain and maintain the peace evidence of the sixeen years of un-interrupted peace that they are now enjoying since the signing of the Accra Peace Accord in 2003 on August 18.
She told media practitioners at the MICAT briefing that Peace is not what people wish for rather what they say, do, and demonstrate as such she used the occasion to urged Liberians across the length and breathe of Liberia to now demonstrate a deep sense of love for each other and Country as a whole which she added are driving forces to achieving genuine peace and reconciliation.
She praised the current Liberian president Dr. George Manneh Weah and former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for playing a key role to the current peace that the people of Liberia are enjoying.
Meanwhile Liberia’s Crusaders for Peace Executive Director Julie Endee says for President Dr. Weah enormous contribution to the peace process in Liberia, a special prize title “The George Weah Peace Prize” award will be dashed out to deserving individuals and groups during the official celebrations of the day.
She said the “ICON-OF-PEACE-MEDAL AWARD- The Gorge Weah Peace Prize is the 2nd in a series.
The historic sixteen years of uninterrupted peace in Liberia has superseded the dark fourteen years of armed conflict as such the culture Ambassador of Liberia encouraged all Liberians and residents of the land and beyond to on Sunday August 18, 2018 at twelve noon wave a white handkerchief, cloth or any other white object as a sign of embracing the culture of peace and saying no more to war or violence.
H.E President Dr. George Weah, and several foreign dignitaries will grace the celebrations including those signatories to the Accra Peace Accord.
Additionally, Citizens and Women Groups from neighboring Sierra leone, Ivory Coast and Guinea including local women and youth groups in Liberia are expected to be in full attendance to grace the unique occasion.
