Police Breaks Silence In Kingsville Incident, Confirms One Person Dead And Two Others Sustained Injuries

Monrovia- The Liberia National Police has Breaking Silence In The Kingsville Incident, Confirms One Person Dead And Two Others Sustained Injuries.

Accordingto to the Spokesman Moses Carter, The Police has confirmed the death of Abraham Tumay, 17, and a resident of Kingsville Township, District #1, Montserrado County who was pronounced dead by Medical Doctors at the Du-side hospital, Margibi County by 12 Noon today after undergoing medical treatment.

The deceased victim was amongst three residents of the Kingsville Community, Saah Saah, 18, and Dave Mombo, 18 who sustained injuries as a result of reported violence that broke out between LNP officers and aggrieved citizens of Kingsville who had set up road blocks and illegal checkpoints on the Monrovia-Kakata Highway in demand of justice for the death of two children, Thomas Kollie, 10 and Elijah Porluma, 9 years old who were sent by their parents to sell but did not return until they were declared missing and found on June 3, 2019.

The authorities of the Liberia National Police while in meeting with family members of the deceased victim today, June 25, 2019, prior to his death pronouncement, encouraged members of his family to remain calm as all is being done to ensure that alleged perpetrators will be made to face the full weight of the law.

LNP authorities along with family members are expected to remove the body of the deceased victim tomorrow from the Du-side Hospital in Margibi to the Abraham Roberts Funeral Home for preservation until burial.

In a town hall meeting held today, members and concerned citizens of the Kingsville Community were humbly asked to assist the investigation with video and pictorial evidence which will inform the outcome of the Joint Professional Standards and Crimes Services Division investigation that is currently ongoing in establishing as to what actually transpired yesterday between protestors and responding Police officers.

Speaking to the family, Police Acting Inspector General, Hon. Sadatu L. M. Reeves urged citizens of the Township to remain law-abiding. She further encouraged citizens of Kingsville to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation and desist from acts of violence.

Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased victim, Mr. Nathan Greaves and Rev. Joseph Tumay at the close of the meeting appreciated the leadership of the Police for welcoming them at the Police headquarters and welcomed the LNP’s initial stance which calls for justice to be served on the remains of their fallen relative.

The LNP authority is also pleased to inform members of the public of the discharge of victim Saah Saah, 18, today who was admitted at the JFK Medical Center for treatment. Victim Saah has been turned over to his family by the LNP while victim Dave Mombo who sustained injury on his right leg has been transferred from the Du-side Hospital to the JFK Hospital for further medical treatment.

Finally, the LNP urges members of the public to remain calm as it endeavors to bring to book alleged perpetrators of the deaths of their children and those who bear the responsibility of the rioting incident that occurred at the Kingsville community.
